Stoke advanced to the fourth round of the F.A. Cup after disposing of an in-form Doncaster Rovers at the Keepmoat.

Goals from Peter Crouch and Jonathan Walters were enough for the Potters to beat Darren Ferguson`s men and make it seven successive seasons they have made the fourth round.

Nathan Tyson had levelled for Doncaster but they failed to grab a late equaliser, hitting the bar and missing a golden opportunity late on.

Mark Hughes made nine changes to his side that lost at West Brom, with only defensive duo Ryan Shawcross and Phillip Wollscheid keeping their places in the starting eleven.

Stoke took the lead when Joselu was too strong for his full back and turned expertly before producing a smashing cross which just left Peter Crouch with the easy task of diverting the ball into the back of the net.

Rovers were only behind for 10 minutes though as Nathan Tyson first effort was saved by debutant Jakob Haugaard after good work from McCullough who managed to beat two men, but the striker reacted quickest and diverted home from 6-yards out to bring the League One side level.

Peter Crouch nearly got his second of the game and regained the lead for the Potters, but the striker somehow ballooned the ball over from 2-yards after a mistake from Thorsten Stuckmann.

The Doncaster keepers luck would run out shortly after a horrendous goal kick was intersected by Crouch. The ball found its way to Jonathan Walters who unleashed a scintillating strike from 25-yards out to give the Potters the lead once more.

Doncaster had a number of chances to get back on terms late on, with Andy Butler hitting the bar following a looping header.

Tyson nearly got his second of the game, but could only hook over from 6-yards. Butler had another late header in stoppage time, but he managed to head over.
