Sunderland v Stoke preview

The Potters make the long trip north to the Stadium of Light for Tuesday night's televised battle with fellow promotion hopefuls, Sunderland as they seek to build on their morale boosting victory over Southampton on Saturday.

Vital Quotes:

Lee Martin has been commenting on his first ever goal in senior football and told the official site: 'I feel I am getting better week by week, especially the last two games at Plymouth and on Saturday; I thought I did well.

'It's all about match practice to be honest, I have played a few games here now and I have really settled in.

'There is still more to come though. Scoring the goal is like having a weight lifted off my shoulders now, and I want to hopefully score a few more.'

Sunderland Team News:

Anthony Stokes, Tobias Hysen and Marton Fulop have all kissed and made up with manager, Roy Keane after missing the team bus to Saturday's match with Barnsley, which the Black Cats' won 2-0. Keane made them train with the reserves on Saturday as punishment but has said that they will be included in the squad on Tuesday. Dwight Yorke has a hamstring injury, but could be fit.

Player to watch: David Connolly

Connolly has 11 goals to his name this season and scored in Saturday's 2-0 win at Barnsley.

Stoke City Team News:

With Lee Hendrie out for three weeks, Lee Martin should have another opportunity to start. Ricardo Fuller is also likely to start his first match for a month after completing his four match suspension. Injury worries hang over Andy Griffin and Danny Higginbotham but Tony Pulis is keeping his cards close to his chest before revealing his likely starting eleven.

Player to watch: Liam Lawrence

Lawrence will be revelling in his first visit back to Wearside since joining the Potters on loan last year and then making his move permanent in January.
