Baggies vs Potters preview

We may have only lost once to the Baggies since 1989, but tomorrow's clash against our West Midlands' rivals promises to be a close affair. They've undergone some changes since we last met them two years ago and their early season form seemed to show that Roberto Di Matteo could have managed to discard their tag as one of the Premier League's top yo-yo teams. But recent upsets against Blackpool, Wigan and Man City and a poor draw against the Hammers have sent them tumbling down from the loftier reaches of the league.

Vital Quotes:

You'd expect Tony Pulis to be preaching caution ahead of the clash and you'd not be disappointed. He told the SCFC official site: 'Our record against Albion may be impressive, but that means nothing because one thing is for sure, the side we face this weekend will be a lot more resilient and a lot harder to beat.'

West Brom Team News:

Chris Brunt is a doubt after sustaining a groin injury whilst away with Northern Ireland in midweek. Zola is back in contention having completed a three match ban after being sent off in the Blackpool defeat - since when they've only picked up a point.

Player to watch: Peter Odemwingie

The Uzbekistani is an Nigerian international who joined in the summer from Locomotiv Moscow but has settled quickly and netted four goals so far

Stoke City Team News:

In contrast to the Baggies' dip, the Potters are now looking for a record PL third win in a row that has revitalised everyone following four consecutive defeats. TP is fortunate that he should be able to name the same side that comfortable saw off Liverpool last Saturday.

Player to watch: Ric Fuller

Back on form and terrorising the opposition defences with two goals in two matches.

Match Facts & Stats

Maybe it's tempting fate, but with only one defeat in the last 26 meetings against the Baggies it's some record.
