Liverpool v Stoke Preview!

After opening up with a win on Saturday against Burnley the Potters face a much more difficult time of it at Anfield against Liverpool tomorrow night. The Reds went down 2-1 at Tottenham on Sunday and will be looking to bounce straight back in their first home match of the season.

Stoke might try to attack Liverpool from dead ball situations, one of the Potters strengths, Stoke`s both goals against Burnley came from set-pieces and Spurs second against Liverpool on Sunday was also form a dead ball.

Vital Quotes:

Dean Whitehead has Stoked up the fire by saying "I think Alonso is going to be a major miss for them-he seemed to run the game when he was playing".

Rafa Benitez has also come out and called this a "must win game" for Liverpool as they so often struggled to beat the smaller sides last season

Liverpool Team News:

Central defence is Liverpools big problem after the clash between Jaime Carragher and Martin Skrtel. Carragher should be fit but a late decision will be made on Skrtel.

Daniel Agger, Albert Riera, Alberto Aqualani and Fabio Aurelio are all injured.

Player to watch: Steven Gerrard

The driving force in the modern day Reds side, Gerrard is effective at attacking and defending and is lethal at set-pieces. One of the best players in the world is surely relishing the chance to get revenge on Stoke after last years draws

Stoke Team News:

Glenn Whelan is back in contention after being rested for the Burnley match, this might mean Rory Delap dropping out the side.

James Collins may play if his transfer from West Ham goes through today or tomorrow morning.

Player to watch: Ryan Shawcross

Targeted by many big sides, Liverpool one of them, its now time for Ryan to stand up and show why he is admired so much. After a great game against Burnley, Shawcross needs to perform on the big stage.
