Shawcross heading for Gray

Two of the Championship's in-form stars will clash at Turf Moor on Saturday looking to enhance their standing in the Actim Index, the official player rating system of the Coca-Cola Championship.

Clarets striker Andy Gray will go up against Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross with the pair enjoying impressive campaigns so far, sitting in 15th and 11th places respectively.

Striker Gray has eight Championship goals for Burnley so far this season, scoring 232 points with a match average of 15 points per game.

If that is impressive, then Manchester United defender Shawcross has been a revelation since arriving on loan at the Britannia Stadium.

The 20-year-old has four league goals to his credit - the most for a defender - and 236 points so far, also averaging 15 points per game.

With 13 blocks and 23 clearances also to his name, Shawcross is proving to be effective at both ends of the pitch.

Gray will be a danger, adding two assists to his armoury this term and with 157 of his total points coming on home soil.

The Actim Index is calculated using a unique mathematical formula that rates each player`s contribution be it goals, shots, passes, dribbles, tackles, crosses, saves, clearances, blocks, interceptions, assists, clean sheets, time on the pitch or number of points gained by the team with marks deducted for red and yellow cards.

That Actim Index thing is bizarre. Not really sure that I understand it.
