Stoke in for Gally

Stoke appear to be trying to persuade Paul Gallagher to return to the club for a second loan spell. The only stumbling block however seems to be where he will be employed within the team with Tony Pulis appearing to want to play him on the wing.

Gallagher proved very popular in his previous loan spell in 2005-06 and was one of the few plus points to come from a disappointing season under Johan Boskamp. Despite spending most of that season employed in a left wing position he now appears reluctant to play there under Tony Pulis and is perhaps seeking assurances that he will be playing in an advanced position on the field.

Gallagher, who only signed a new contract at Ewood Park last summer, finds himself down the pecking order following numerous new arrivals at Blackburn and Mark Hughes is willing to let him leave on loan, at least until January.

It does seem certain that 'Gally' will be leaving Blackburn, at least on a short term move, and at the moment Stoke seem to be the front runners. However if Pulis cannot convince him of his role within the team then a number of other Championship clubs including QPR and Hull appear ready to pounce.

I suppose I can understand why Gally wants to play as a striker. But, judged on his time here under Bozzie, he is much more effective on the wing but given a licence to roam a bit. He doesn't have the physical presence to play as a Championsip striker in my opinion.
