"Vital Stoke is a fast growing Potters fan site" - don't get me wrong, I like the site layout and I wish it had more readers, but in what way exactly is Vital Stoke a fast growing site? The last message on the message board was in May and I am the second highest current poster with 3 posts! A suggestion if I may. Posts like this would be better on the message board - they would at least bring some life to it - comments attached to an article are fine if the site is busy. If it is not busy then diluting the comment by having two places to put it, dilutes the impact.

the site is growing on page impressions and the amount of visitors, the forum is quiet but that is only half of the site!

Can't agree more with you, Fornside, there should be more messages on the MB and we've tried both ways so far. But in reply to your comment about "fast growing", I'm not referring to MB postings. In the last six months the number of visits to Vital Stoke have risen by 80% and we've just had our best month yet (and that's during the close season). I you've got any ideas on how we can kick-start the MB, please email me at stoke@vitalfootball.co.uk - I'd be very pleased to hear from you or anyone else.

Chris, if I knew the answer I'd certainly tell you. I'll have a think and if inspiration dawns then you'll certainly get your email. I'll make one point now though. If, as "The Fear" says, the message board is only half the site then you have to ensure that the rest of the site (mainly the articles) give the reader something which can't be obtained on other competing sites. The match report (during the season) is a plus - you often beat the Oatcake in getting the report online - even if your report is not as detailed. The Oatcake has few editorial features these days so there is an opening but, at the moment, TeamTalk is beating you to the punch on Stories and (in recent months) their editorials contain less "rehash" stuff picked up from other sites. Can you not do some interviews with club staff and steal a march that way?

It is fast growing at a lot of clubs.....just look at the Tottenham and Chelsea sites.....and our site at Millwall is beginning to take off now, what I like about it is that there are no side shows, no politics, just day to day club issues. Like anything else you get out what you put in.....
