Stoke confirm Real Madrid friendly

Stoke City have now finally confirmed that they will play Real Madrid in a friendly during their pre-season visit to Austria later this month.

The fixture had been in doubt after being agreed with Real coach, Fabio Capello who was surprisingly sacked after the club won La Liga, but new coach, Bernd Schuster has now confirmed that the friendly can go ahead.

The Potters' squad travel to Austria for a week on the 21st July on what is becoming a regular part of the pre-season programme and the match takes place at Irdning on July 27th - the day before they return to the Potteries.

Full pre-season fixture list:
15th July: Newcastle Town (Lyme Valley Stadium)
20th July: Macclesfield Town (Moss Rose)
27th July: Real Madrid (Irdning, Austria)
1st August: Aston Villa (Britannia Stadium)
3rd August: Tranmere Rovers (Prenton Park)
