Stoke try to avoid another slip-up

The draw has been made for the first round of the Carling Cup with the Potters drawn away to Rochdale.

The Carling Cup has not been a happy hunting ground for Stoke as they've dropped out in the first round for the last three years. Last year saw Stoke lose 2-1 to Darlington in a dreadful game for the Potters which many fans saw as a bad omen at the time for the remainder of the season.

The match will take place at Spotland during the week commencing 13th August 2007.
