Mariners praise Paterson

Mariners praise Paterson

Martin Paterson is set to return to the Britannia after a three month loan at Grimsby with the Mariners' boss singing his praises.

Pato has been a big hit at the Mariners this season with six goals in his thirteen appearances. Not surprisingly their manager, Alan Buckley (pictured) is full of praise for the 19 year old. He told their official site: 'Unfortunately Martin will have completed his 93 day period with us and it looks highly unlikely that he can stay any longer.

'For supporters to sing 'why don't you sign him', we've got to get real. When he joined the club on loan there was never any possibility of us making anything permanent for a player like Martin.

'We've just enjoyed having him here while he has been here.'

He also had praise for Anthony Pulis who had his loan spell cut short due to injury: 'We haven't seen as much as Ant because of injuries. In Martin's case, as well as Ant, you would have him any time. I certainly hope that we haven't seen the last of him at this football club.'

Glowing praise indeed for two more of our youngsters. Stoke fans will be hoping that Pulis Senior at least gives Paterson some good opportunities to break into the Potters' first team.
