Stafylidis Hoping For Huddersfield Bow
Having been linked with Stoke City for most of the week, Kostas Stafylidis arrived at the club yesterday following his loan switch from FC Augsburg.
The Greek international defender has signed loan terms from the German outfit until the end of the season but it hasn't yet been confirmed whether or not we hold a buy option on him.
Speaking to the Official Website with manager Paul Lambert saying he needed to assess his fitness first before thinking of the weekend, the 24 year old declared himself fit and raring to go as he met the media and he's hoping to prove his ready for his bow against Huddersfield this weekend.
'I feel ready, 100 percent! Of course I have to wait now for the coach to make a decision - If he asks me to play then of course I will play, I will give everything. I am so happy to be here, it has always been a big dream of mine to one day play in the Premier League, and now thank you to Stoke City I have this opportunity. We will see what happens this weekend, the manager will pick the side that he feels is best suited to winning the game, which is the most important thing.'
Stafylidis confirmed that when his agent contacted him about the potential of a deal, he did need time to think about the ramifications of such a switch but once the potential was confirmed, he was all for it.
'As soon as I heard I told my agent directly that I wanted this move. I left it to him then, he spoke to the Club more, and then to the trainer and we all wanted to make this move happen. It is good for me, it is good for the Club to bring me here for five months and I am very happy about that. Now we need to make sure the Club is playing in the Premier League again next season.'
