Build On Swansea Win - Butland

Goalkeeper Jack Butland has called on Stoke City to build on the victory over Swansea City at the weekend and regain some momentum.

Having returned from injury for the game after breaking his finger on international duty he took the spot between the sticks replacing Lee Grant and the 24 year old helped us to all three points - namely the reflex save from Ryan Shawcross' accidentally goal bound header.

Speaking to the Official Website this week after seeing us register our first win in five attempts, Butland said we had to take the positives into this weekend's clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

'It was massively important to get the three points. We go to Tottenham this week, and we don`t want to be going there on the back of a poor performance, and then face an uphill battle to get something from that game. But now with the momentum we picked up from these three points which we desperately needed, we can go there with a sense of confidence to try and take something from there as well.'

With Hughes picking a 442 and seeing Stoke battle back from a goal behind, Butland knew showing that spirit and determination would stand us in good stead as well.

'It was a tough start to the game and going behind early was not what we wanted, but it was testament to the character we do have in the group. We do need to show our aggressiveness more often to show that we can get back into games and score goals.'

'We are obviously disappointed with the start. We haven`t played that formation for a while now so maybe there was a bit of uncertainty to begin with. After their goal we started to find some rhythm, and it worked for us.'
