Hughes - We're Out To Impress The Big Boys
Manager Mark Hughes has said Stoke City are eager to impress against the big boys at the Bet365 Stadium this season.
Having registered a single point against last year's top six following the draw with Manchester United, Hughes admitted to the Official Website as he met with the media for his pre game press conference that Stoke simply hadn't done enough last season and that's something that everyone is keen to set right this year.
'We didn`t cover ourselves in glory the last time we came out against them, so we need a marked improvement on that and I sense that from the group in fairness. We`ve got a number of exciting new players in the building as well so I think everyone is looking forward to seeing how they`re going to perform. My view is that they`re going to be very good for us, it`s exciting times here and we`re looking to start positively at home.'
Hughes went on to say that he certainly wants to provide the supporters will a bit more of a thrill factor this year, citing that he'd like fans on the 'edge of their seats' far more often throughout this campaign.
'We`re clear in what we have to do to get fans on the edge of their seats and that`s what we`ll attempt to do. Last year, in terms of excitement against the big boys, we didn`t really give them enough to take the roof off the place so that`s what we`ll try and do this season. As I say, we`ve got good players, great players in my view, ones that will get you off your seat and have you cheers back at them so we`re all really looking forward to it.'
On to Arsenal this weekend and we'll see if we can do just that.
