Duberry leaves Stoke

Stoke City have lost their captain and central defender, Michael Duberry as he has agreed to sign for Reading for an undisclosed fee but rumoured to be in the region of £800,000

The Potters were forced to allow him to talk to the Royals after he invoked a clause in his contract.

Fans will be disappointed to see him go but you can't really turn down such good business, especially as we signed him on a free transfer in 2004 and he could have left for nothing at the end of his contract in the summer.

Stoke have also announced that they have signed West Brom keeper, Russell Hoult on a free transfer until the end of the season.

With so many players now at the club either on loan or on short contracts, Stoke are going to have to be very swift signing players up in the summer on longer term deals or we risk starting the new season with a very thin squad - unless we're in the Premiership and I somehow think that won't then be such a problem!
