Walters To Join Burnley

Walters To Join Burnley

Jon Walters' time at the bet365 Stadium looks as if it'll be coming to an end this summer after Stoke and Burnley reportedly agree a transfer fee.

Walters, of course, handed in a transfer request back in 2015 in a bid to force through a transfer to Norwich, which didn't happen, had seen a previous bid from Burnley turned down.

However, as our friends at Vital Burnley inform us, an improved offer, of up to £3m, looks as if it'll take the Republic of Ireland international to Lancashire:

Having completed the signing of Leeds' Charlie Taylor the arrival of Stoke's Jon Walters might not be far off too.

According to the BBC, Burnley have agreed a deal with Stoke to bring Walters, 33, to Turf Moor.

The fee Burnley pay, after a previous offer was turned down, for the Republic of Ireland international could reach up to £3m.

During his seven years at Stoke, joining from Ipswich in 2010, Walters has made well over 250 appearances and has scored 62 goals. The Irishman is 'thought to be keen to link up with Burnley manager Sean Dyche,' said the BBC.

A fee has been agreed but Walters is yet to undergo a medical or agree personal terms, reports Sky Sports.

This shouldn't be an issue with Walters expected to come through these areas in time to link up with the squad on Monday.

Despite that previous blip, Walters has been a loyal servant to Stoke and arguably given the Potters the best years of his career.

£3m for a 33 year old who probably wouldn't have been a regular in Mark Hughes' starting XI isn't a bad deal.
