Stoke's Uhrencup Involvement Announced

Stoke's Uhrencup Involvement Announced

The dust hasn't finished whirling up let alone settled on the 2016-17 season - this doesn't end until Sunday - but football never sleeps does it. So, plans are afoot, some falling into place already, as far as Stoke's pre-season preparations are concerned ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.

It will be here before we know it! And a tester for Stoke ahead of the 2017-18 Premier League season has seen a pre-season tournament in Switzerland announced, where the Potters will compete to win Uhrencup.

Stoke will face Neuchatel, in what will be our first friendly, on 10th July 10, having an 8pm (local time) kick off. A couple of days later will be meeting with Young Boys, also having an 8pm (local time) kick off - Young Boys are seven-time Uhrencup winners.

Of course, as with any pre-season friendly, the main thing to get from this is a challenge and the continuation of fitness being built up - such a game, like these against the Swiss clubs, could always be subject to change too.

But, as things stand, these pre-season friendlies will form the latest phase of boss Mark Hughes's preparations as he looks to guide Stoke to success in the topflight next season, when improvement will be expected in all honesty.

Commenting on this Chief Executive Tony Scholes told the Official Website: 'We are delighted to have been invited to take part in such a prestigious competition. We are looking forward to two tough games against decent opposition at a very early stage of our pre-season preparation.'
