Liverpool Frustration For Hughes

Liverpool Frustration For Hughes

Manager Mark Hughes has spoken of his disappointment and frustration following Saturday's defeat to Liverpool.

Hosting the side at the Bet365 Stadium for this weekend's Premier League action, Stoke took the early lead through Jonathan Walters' goal just ahead of the half time break but Liverpool hit back twice in the second half to take all three points in the two one loss.

Speaking to the Official Website in his post game press conference, a gutted Hughes admitted it would be a sleepness night given how the game fell away from us.

'It`s a difficult result to take today to be perfectly honest. I thought we were by far the more dominant side during the first 45 minutes and were full value for the one goal lead we held at the break. They had to change one or two things at half-time because of the way the first half panned out, and to be fair the guys they brought on impacted the game for them.'

Hughes went on to say.

'That said, at 1-0 we had a glorious opportunity to go 2-0 up and had we managed to do that then I think it would have been the end of the game. As it was, they then had a similar opportunity and managed to dispatch it and then a few seconds later their lad finds himself through on goal after a routine ball forward beats three of our defenders. Even after that we had another great opportunity to get back on level terms, but somehow their goalkeeper has managed to keep it out on the line. Not for the first time, they created three clear cut chances and scored two of them and we created more than that and only managed to score one - it is just the way things are going for us at the moment!'

Defender Bruno Martins Indi was also speaking briefly at the full time whistle, and this is what the Dutchman had to say about the game.

'We played in two parts. In the first half we were good and went 1-0 up but then second half it was a bad decision from me which led to 1-1. I tried to hit the ball but I couldn`t reach it and then the second goal was a very easy one for us to give away - he (Firmino) was totally free in behind and scored. In the second half we didn`t play very well in comparison to the first half, but we had two or three big chances and didn`t score them. We are all disappointed but we have to move on and win next week. We need to keep going and the next game is always the most important.'
