Rooney wants Stoke chance
Stoke City striker, Adam Rooney feels that he is ready for the first team.
18 year old Rooney, who came on for the last fifteen minutes of the Potters' late 2-0 win against Millwall in the FA Cup, had more than an helping hand in the team's two goals in the final ten minutes and could have claimed a goal of his own. He told the official site: 'It was nice to get a chance to show what I can do. I haven't had many chances this season but I think I am ready now. I maybe should have done a bit better with my effort at goal but their defender knocked me off my stride a bit and it put me off.'
'There is a lot of competition at the club now and a lot of good strikers so I have got to keep my head down, keep working and hopefully show what I can do.'
Rooney's most memorable game to date was a hat-trick in the final game of last season away at Brighton.
The club has also revealed that talks with the player about a contract extension are at an advanced stage.
