Whelan wins most improved player of the season

Whelan wins most improved player of the season

The Vital Stoke community has made its voice heard and have decided that the 2013/14 most improved player of the season is:

Glenn Whelan

The Republic of Ireland international midfielder has come on leaps and bounds since the arrival of Mark Hughes.

Whelan, 30, has been released from the 'cage` this season and has finally shown the Britannia Stadium faithful his true ability in the heart of the midfield.

The former Sheffield Wednesday player has constantly been a rock in the Potters midfield, breaking up play and recycling possession to allow Stoke to start a counter attack again and again.

Whelan won the vote with 63% of the vote beating Steven N`Zonzi (17%) and Jonathan Walters (11%) to the award.
