Hughes ponders Pieters transfer

Mark Hughes is pondering whether to make an offer for Dutch international defender Erik Pieters.

Pieters, who currently plays for Eredivise outfit PSV Eindhoven has been suggested as a possible solution to Stoke`s troubled left back spot by Technical Director Mark Cartwright.

However, it is up to Welshman Mark Hughes whether the club go after the 24-year-old left back.

Pieters has been capped 15 times by Holland and also has Champions League experience under his belt during his time at PSV.

The 6ft 1in defender, who can also play centre half has had a torrid time over the last 12 months with injury after breaking a metatarsal in his left foot and then badly cutting his hand after punching a glass window after being sent off for PSV Eindhoven.

A number of other clubs are rumoured to be interested in the defender.
