Britannia Stadium planning permission granted

Stoke City have been granted planning permission for the proposed extension of the Britannia Stadium.

The club are looking to fill in the South east corner of the stadium, where the scoreboard is currently situated.

Stoke-on-Trent council has unanimously agreed to the extension subject to conditions.

After the planned extension the capacity of the Britannia Stadium would increase to over 30,000 with an additional 1,800 seats planned.

The Potters have yet to announce when work will start on the expansion and seem to be looking to initial season ticket sales for next season before they agree to start work.

Season tickets, at an early bird price, are set to go on sale through February, and the tactic seems to indicate that Stoke will look at the early sales to predict whether an extension is plausible for next season.
