How do you solve a problem like Sam?

How do you solve a problem like Sam?

Just when Sam Bangoura was about to be rehabilitated into the Stoke City first team squad and you thought that the worst was over - he does it all over again.

The Potters' striker who has already turned up five weeks late for pre-season training and has struggled to regain his creditability and fitness was due to be included in Tony Pulis' first team squad to face Barnsley on Saturday but went missing, again, on Friday and has only surfaced this morning.

Pulis told the Sentinel: 'He's really kicked us where it hurts. I've never known anyone show such disrespect for a football club, and particularly their colleagues.

He has a God-given talent, but chooses not to use it. He wants to go to the Donna Louise Trust [a local children's hospice] to see how lucky he is.'

It's not clear yet where that leaves both club and player - except even further apart....

I see that Sweeney's website diary mentioned the other day that Sam had handed in a transfer request when he finally returned this summer - something that was news to me. It seems that he (or his agent) are determined that Stoke should agree to the request. :-(

Never mind a problem like Sam, what about the problem that is Pulis? If he's out to sell Hoofers, he should be shown the door. End of. No point in shipping in talent (Fuller & Griffo - albeit the latter on loan) if they're all busy behind the scenes showing existing talent (Hoofers & Sam Bang) the exit. Beyond belief.
