Injured Wilson signs new four year deal

Injured full-back Marc Wilson has signed a new four year contract at the Britannia Stadium.

The Republic of Ireland international has signed on the dotted line to stay in the Midlands even though he is set for a lengthy jaunt on the side lines after breaking his fibula.

The 25-year-old broke his leg over Sunderland on the 27th October after an innocuous challenge from Scotland`s Steven Fletcher and could be out for up to three months.

Wilson, who can play anywhere across the back four or even in centre midfield moved to Stoke from Portsmouth in 2010 and only had 18 months left on his contract.

Talks about a new contract had been in the pipeline over the last month before Wilson picked up his injury and with the deal still being struck once again shows manager Pulis` loyalty.

Pulis offered striker Mamady Sidibe and midfielder Rory Delap new contracts in the summer even though the duo are recovering from injuries and were unlikely to be involved in Stoke`s first team plans.

With Wilson`s injury, Stoke are looking short at the back and after failed attempts to bring in a specialist left back to the club in the summer, Pulis has a selection problem at full back.

Pulis missed out on sealing a loan move for Macedonia left back Goran Popov, who later moved to Midlands rival`s West Brom.
