Vital Stoke predicts: Man utd (Away)

After Stoke`s draw at Anfield before the International break, the Vital Stoke prediction table looks almost the same as 5 out of the 6 contenders got the Liverpool result perfectly incorrect. Only Tom McKeon picked up a point as he correctly guessed the game would be a draw and he has took a slight chunk out of the gap at the top.

Here is the league as it stands after the last week:

1. Tom Barker Prediction (2-1; 0pt) 11 points

1. Mark Lawrenson Prediction (1-0; 0pt) 11 points

1. Lloyd Reddin Prediction (0-1; 0pt) 11 points

1. Tom McKeon Prediction (1-1; 1pt) 9 points

5. Ryan Kalisz Prediction (0-1; 0pt) 6 points

6. Niall Cope Prediction (1-2; 0pt) 3 points

The Vital Stoke team will go head-to-head with BBC`s Mark Lawrenson in predicting Stoke`s result against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Points will be given for any member of the team that gets the score correct (3points) or the result correct (Win, Lose or draw (1 point)), and all points will be calculated throughout the season.

The team`s predictions are as followed:

Editor Lloyd Reddin- Manchester United1-0 Stoke

"I can see this game going down the same route as the match at Stamford Bridge. I think we will withstand the Man Utd barrage and even have a few chances ourselves, but Sir Alex Ferguson`s men will create a moment of brilliance, cumulating in Robin van Persie breaking the travelling Potters` fans heart with a late goal."

Co-Editor Tom Barker- Manchester United 3-1 Stoke

"I can't see us getting anything from this unfortunately. United need a strong push to try and get the title back from their local counterparts, and i feel they will want to make a statement today. If United do intend to make a statement properly, we can't expect anything i'm afraid. Then again, Stoke are notorious for pulling off a shock result every now and again..."

Co-Editor Ryan Kalisz- Manchester United 2-0 Stoke

"Man United will not be an easy game by any stretch of the imagination, and having to play at Old Trafford wont do our, so far, resiliant Potters any good. I'm going for a our first clear-cut loss of the season after coping so brillaintly with the extreamly tough set of starting fixtures. Fergies men will be wanting to step on Chelsea's tail and so will see Stoke as a three-pointer, and I reckon they'll get them after 90 minutes, plus 30 minutes extra time"

Co-Editor Tom McKeon- Manchester United 1-1 Stoke

""

Co-Editor Niall Cope- Manchester United 1-1 Stoke

'Stoke have found it tough going on their four previous visits to Old Trafford - conceding 13 and scoring only one goal.

'The Red Devils have not lit the league alight this season and have had to grind out results, with last season`s main marksman, Wayne Rooney, failing to find the net this term.[Soft Break]

'Injuries have dogged United so far, especially in defence, but they are set to welcome back Ashley Young to their attack.[Soft Break]

'With Glenn Whelan rated only 50/50 and Andy Wilkinson back from suspension, Tony Pulis may tinker with his starting 11.[Soft Break]

'Stoke will hope to continue their solid start to the season after creditable draws against Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool.[Soft Break]

'Another draw and our first Premier League point at Old Trafford would not be sniffed at.'

BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson- Manchester United 3-0 Stoke

"Stoke go from Anfield to Old Trafford, which is a nice little run of fixtures for them. They picked up a point against Liverpool on 7 October but it will be a much harder asks for them to get anything out of Manchester United.

"It looks like United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has got one or two more players back fit - I saw Jonny Evans play for Northern Ireland against Portugal on Tuesday, when he did extremely well, so that will give him more options at the back.

"United will have to deal with the normal sort of resistance and troublesome play you get from Stoke but they have dealt with them pretty well in the past, especially at Old Trafford where they have won all four meetings in the Premier League, scoring 13 goals and conceding only one.

"Ferguson has a Champions League game to think about next week, at home to Braga on Tuesday, but they have won their first two games so the pressure is off them in that competition.

"If they get four points from their back to back games against the Portuguese side then they are almost certainly through to the knockout stage, and don't forget they still have to play Cluj again at Old Trafford too.

"After their first game against Galatasaray, people said they didn't play well but that doesn't matter in Europe, it is the result that counts. They should have no problems getting out of their group."

Can anyone pull ahead at the top of the league or can the stragglers pull their way back up the table?
