Edu on verge of Stoke deal

United States of America international Maurice Edu has agreed personal terms with Stoke and is set to complete his deal at the Britannia Stadium, pending international clearance.

The 26-year-old central midfielder, who can also play as a central defender will undergo a medical over the weekend and if granted international clearance will become a Stoke City player for an undisclosed fee.

The former The Rangers Football Club midfielder, who has scored 9 goals in 96 appearances for the Glasgow based side, will be the second player to move south of the Scottish border to Staffordshire this summer, following his former team mate Jamie Ness to the club.

Edu will also be reunited with his U.S.A. international team mate, and Potters` summer recruit Geoff Cameron, who he partnered in the centre of defence for the North American side in their 1-0 friendly victory over Mexico last week.

The California born player has been capped by America 37 times scoring once.
