Huddlestone off, Edu on?
The proposed loan deal of Tom Huddlestone to Stoke City is reported to be off.
A deal which would have seen Huddlestone move to the Britannia Stadium on a season long loan deal has stalled as Stoke cannot agree terms with Tottenham as they have issues with the player`s fitness.
Stoke were keen on having a get-out clause in the loan deal if Huddlestone picked up an injury, giving the Potters and their chairmen Peter Coates financial stability.
A deal could still be struck for the 25-year-old if the two clubs can agree terms but this transfer is likely to go all the way up to the deadline next Friday (31st August).
Stoke are now turning their attention to Rangers` central midfielder Maurice Edu and have rumoured to have agreed a fee with the Scottish side.
The Rangers Football Club manager Ally McCoist has confirmed that Edu is in talks with the Premier League outfit.
"I'm led to believe the Maurice Edu transfer to Stoke is still ongoing.
'If and when that happens he will go with our best wishes, but I don't think there has been anything concrete done with that at the moment" McCoist told the Daily Record.
Edu, who is a United States of America international, partnered Stoke`s Geoff Cameron in the centre of defence in USA`s friendly victory over Mexico last week, keeping a clean sheet in the 1-0 win.
If the 26-year-old were to sign he would be the second USA international to sign this summer following Geoff Cameron and would also be the second Rangers player to move to Staffordshire following Jamie Ness.
