Huth contracts viral meningitis
Robert Huth has been diagnosed with viral meningitis.
After being rushed to hospital with what was thought to be meningitis, the central defender underwent tests which showed the 27 year-old has the milder form of the disease.
The German defender will remain in hospital whilst he completes his course of antibiotics.
Huth could be out of action for two weeks and therefore is an early doubt for Stoke`s opening fixtures against newly promoted Reading at the Madejski on the 18th August.
The 'Berlin wall` is not the first player to contract viral meningitis this summer, as Daniel Sturridge was nearly forced to withdrawn from Great Britain`s Olympic squad after he contracted the disease, three weeks before the tournament began.
Chelsea striker, Sturridge managed to recover in time for the Olympics and played a part in each of GB`s games but unfortunately missed the decisive penalty against South Korea in the Quarter Finals penalty shootout.
