Ness captured by Stoke

Ness captured by Stoke

Stoke City have agreed the capture of Scotland under 21 international Jamie Ness, on a free transfer from Rangers, subject to international clearance on a four year deal.

The 21 year old midfielder, who can play in a central midfield or a left midfield berth, has exercised his right to be released from his Rangers contract after he refused to transfer his contract over to the newco at Ibrox after Rangers moved into liquidation.

Stoke manager Tony Pulis told stokecity.com: "Jamie is a lad with enormous potential who is clearly determined to make the most of this fresh start in the game.

'It's important that we introduce some young blood in strengthening the squad and he certainly fits the billas someone tipped for a bright future.'

Ness, who has been capped at under-21 level for Scotland once made 16 appearances for Rangers, scoring his only goal for the club in Rangers` old firm Scottish cup victory over Celtic will become Stoke`s first signing of the summer.

Charles Green, Chief Executive of Rangers Newco has admitted that he will look to take legal action over players such as Ness who have left the club, but the SFA had confirmed that players were entitled to become free agents if they objected the transfer.

Come on Messi. Sorry Nessi, not to be confused with the Barcelona player. Sounds good though.
