Pulis lodges another red card appeal

Stoke manager Tony Pulis has once again appealed against a red card given to one of his players.

Pulis has decided to appeal against the red card given to Rory Delap by referee Mike Jones.

The central midfielder saw red after a challenge on David Hunt in Stoke`s fifth round Budweiser F.A. cup tie against League Two outfit Crawley Town.

This is the second time in a fortnight that the Stoke manager has lodged an appeal to the F.A. in attempt to overturn a decision.

The Newport manager unsuccessfully appealed against the red card given to Robert Huth in Stoke`s 1-0 defeat to Sunderland at the Britannia Stadium on the 4th February, but now hopes for a different outcome in his latest attempt.

Pulis told Stoke City`s official site: "If you look at the referee, he first gives a throw in, not even a free kick. The fourth official has told our staff he made his decision because there was excessive force."

Stoke have 24 hours to present their evidence to the F.A. to try and persuade an independent regulatory commission to overturn the red card.

If the appeal is unsuccessful, Delap will miss the games against Swansea (Home), Norwich (Home) and Chelsea (Away).

Stoke still went on to win the match 2-0 following a penalty from Jon Walters and a header by Peter Crouch.

Stoke will now play in their third consecutive F.A. cup Quarter-final against Liverpool at Anfield.
