John Carew in talks with Stoke!

John Carew in talks with Stoke!

Fresh reports this morning claim that Aston Villa centre-forward John Carew is in talks with Stoke over a loan deal. The Norwegian striker has fallen out with Villa manger Gerard Houllier, who has made it clear that Carew can leave, with West Brom favourites for to sign him. But Stoke`s surprise bid may see him in the red and white should talks go well.

The news will probably mean the end of and potential deal to sign Hoffenheim forward Demba Ba. After failing his medical Pulis was keen to snap him up on loan, but Hoffenheim stated that won`t be happening.

Since then Sky Sports reports that Pulis has moved quickly to bolster his strike options by making an attempt to bring the experienced Carew to the club. The 31 year-old joined Villa 3 and a half years ago in a swap deal and has enjoyed playing against Stoke by scoring 3 goals in 5 matches against us.

The high profile move will raise questions about team selection as Carew will expect to start. Kenwyne Jones place is set in stone at the moment, while Tuncay, Fuller and Jon Walters have rotated the second striker`s slot all season with mixed success. Carew will have his work cut out to force his way in but he could work out to be a very promising signing for Stoke, and may lead to a permanent deal in the summer.

He wasn't signed for £5m, it was a straight swap with Baros who was worth around 10p at the time. Don't know how the Stoke fans will take to him strolling around the pitch, but on his day (very rarely, when he's bothered) he can be great. Just don't rob our "John Carew, Carew.." song!!

if you get him you will be getting a world class striker - for about 2 months - and after that you will be wondering why you signed him.

He'll definitly get you six points against the Villa though, that's almost a certainty

He was free swap for the other lazy player we had Baros. One thing is, he will put in some good performances for you until the summer, then you'll give him a three year contract and he'll turn up once every nine games. Done us proud on occaisions tho, If Pulis is only gonna pay his wages and you get him on a free in the summer he couild turn out to be a bargain.

I think one thing that Stoke fans can be proud about is how the team always put in a shift, Win Lose or Draw. What your gonna get with Big John is a player that will chase the ball back until he reaches the centre circle, Whatever you do Stoke fans dont encourage him to chase it back or make more effort than he needs to. Otherwise his back will go and the next time youll see him is stubbling out The Pink Lounge Bar. Got a soft spot for Stoke but and think youll be disappointed im affraid :(

Sounds like another Beattie to me. Be good for half a season, then we've seen the best of him so a try-before-u-buy loan could be a good option

you have signed the worlds laziest player and he doesnt have a first touch and cant really finish, not a great combination is it. he also very rarely wins header which is probably not expected due to his height, oh yeah and did i mention he has a dreadful first touch
