Ba to sign for Stoke by the weekend?

Ba to sign for Stoke by the weekend?

Sky Sports are linking us to Demba Ba, a 25 year old Sengalese striker playing in the German Bundesliga.

The player, who currently plays for Hoffenheim, has been linked to several Premier League clubs and it has looked like he might end up at West Ham but Sky Sports are now reporting that the Potters have made a £5.9m bid for Ba, who has scored six goals in 15 games so far this season and that he is travelling to Stoke for talks.

They're also saying that the club are hopeful of landing him before tomorrow's 12 noon deadline which would make him eligible for a start against Bolton on Saturday.

This seems to be one of the more robust rumours to have been doing the rounds in a week where we've been linked to several players, but it would be very tight if they really intend to sign him up quickly so that he could play on Saturday as I'd expect that he'd need a UK work permit granting before he can play - if indeed he does sign on the dotted line.
