Could Pompey cash in on Lawrence?

Liam Lawrence may have only officially signed for Portsmouth a couple of days ago, but he's already been linked with a move to West Ham.

A report in the Mirror today says that the Hammers' boss (and former Pompey manager) Avram Grant is ready to spend 4m bringing the former Stoke player to the East End of London. Because of paperwork delays at the end of August, Liam was still officially a Potters' player until last Saturday when 'an undisclosed fee' converted his emergency loan into a three and half year permanent contract and he's certainly been doing well on the south coast with 7 goals in just 17 appearances.

I have to admit I'm a bit sceptical that this rumour is really going to fly, especially if it could fall foul of the transfer rules. Whilst FIFA rules allow for a player to be contracted to three clubs in a season as long as they only play for two of them (Liam never played for us this season), I'm not sure if the rule book allows a player to move twice within the same transfer window.
