Stoke sign three new players!

Stoke have finally signed Monaco striker Eidur Gudjohnsen on a season long loan. In a frantic last couple of hours at the Brit, the 31 year-old put pen to paper with just minutes to spare. The Potters also made a last gasp loan bid for winger Jermaine Pennant and he has joined, on a six month loan deal.

Gudjohnsen arrived at the training ground earlier on today and was given a guided tour by Tony Pulis but just as if it looked like things were done, Monaco changed their minds over some details and the club had to go through some last minute negotiations.

However the news was broken just minutes after the six pm deadline that Gudjohnsen is a Stoke City player for the 2010/2011 season.

We are still to find out what lies in store for Tuncay. Sky Sports suggested that if Gudjohnsen were to sign then the Turkish international would move to Blackburn, but because the Gudjohnsen deal went through so late, we are yet to learn what will happen to the popular striker.

Earlier today it looked like Stoke would be just signing Gudjohnsen and Marc Wilson but with around half an hour to go it was announced that Pulis had put in a last minute loan bid for Pennant from Real Zaragoza. The move came up trumps and the former Liverpool winger will join up with the squad over the next few days.

The complex move that has taken Marc Wilson to the Britannia looked done and dusted hours ago but Liam Lawrence showed hesitation in moving to Portsmouth and so the move has been stalling throughout the day. But it was thought most of it has gone through. Marc Wilson has joined Stoke, Dave Kitson has joined Portsmouth but Liam Lawrence`s move is still in the air.

This means that Stoke have four new players today and seven overall. Adding to the previous signings of Carlo Nash, Kenwyne Jones and Jonathan Walters, are the incoming Salif Diao, Jermaine Pennant, Marc Wilson and Eidur Gudjohnsen.

The club are still waiting for confirmation that all deals did go through as expected.

Great signings there for you'll. Honestly. But we ripped u guys with the Wilson deal. I agree hes a good player, but you'll sacrificed two players of far better quality combined i.e Lawrence and Kitson. Amazed we got such a good deal. And 2.5 mill with!? xD But i can see you'll possibly challenging for a Europa League spot xD Good luck.
