Eustace ready for new season

John Eustace is looking for a good start to pre-season training as he tries to retrieve his position in the Potters' starting eleven.

Eustace has been out of the Stoke side for nearly two seasons as he fought a long running campaign against some troublesome knee and groin injuries.

The treatment involved trips to Europe and the US in search of a long lasting cure and the talented midfielder told the official site that he thinks, this time, he will be fit for the start of pre-season training:
'This is the best I've felt in a long time', says John, 'I would like to think that I'm injury free now. I'm feeling very positive at the minute, but it has been a struggle to get here and I don't want to do anything that will put me back again.
'I've been doing a lot of work since the season ended and my knee is the best that it has been and feels strong.'

He added: 'I'm now just looking forward to getting back from my holiday and starting pre-season training.
'I have targeted being back on the first day of pre-season, but I'm not going to rush things when I'm there. I've had a bad time over the last two-and-a-half years and all I want to do now is get back playing football regularly again.'

It would be a real boost to Stoke's midfield if he can recreate the form that he showed after signing from Coventry in 2003. Let's hope that he can put all his problems quickly behind him and we can see some of the Eustace of old as soon as possible.

He'll be fine if he keeps away from the cat.

It will be interesting to see if he can break back into the side. I'm sure he thinks he will be back as strong as he was before the horrific injury. It won't be easy because of the amount of time he's been out.
