Lawrence has doubts over Stoke future

Stoke midfielder Liam Lawrence has for the first time expressed concerns over his future at the club. The Irishman has been in showdown talks with Tony Pulis and wants his future resolved quickly.

Although he has three years left on his contract, Lawrence has started just 13 times in the league this season and has produced just one goal. The 28 year-old has struggled to find form since tripping over his pet dog 18 months ago and with the additions of Dean Whitehead and Tuncay, competition for places is high.

Lawrence has said "We've spoken at length. The gaffer knows me really well and he knows that all I want to do is play football".

Liam has suffered at the hands of Pulis`s rotation policy this season which has seen him alter between midfielders such as him, Salif Diao and Rory Delap. A player who needs to be playing regularly to reach top form, the Irishman hasn`t taken well to the new system.

Stoke fans wouldn`t want to Lawrence to go. After all he did in getting us to the Premier League he will always be seen as an unsung hero, but this season he has looked out of his depth and with us reportedly prepared to spend big in the summer, maybe he will be one of many causalities.

Lets hope he regains form and impresses towards the seasons close.

A top ten club needs better players then him playing regularly. Thanks but off you go!

The answer is in Liam's own hands. He has to seize whatever chances come his way when they arrive. Apart from his goal on Saturday, he didn't look anything like the old Liam. I accept that if he has not been getting regular games he will lack match fitness. But in his games this season he has not just lacked match fitness but also basic fitness - and sorting that out is down to him. If 2 hours a day training isn't keeping him fit he should put in the extra time without being prompted.
