Pulis asks for Zola backing
Tony Pulis sprung to the defence of West Ham's beleaguered manager, Giancarlo Zola yesterday after we'd beaten them 1-0 in the League and ensured that they'd become well and truly involved in the relegation scrap.
Tone is one person who's experienced all the highs and lows of working under various club owners during his many years of football management and has frequently said that the Potters' Peter Coates is the best chairman he has ever worked with.
The new joint chairmen of West Ham, former Birmingham City owners Gold and Sullivan, have given some very mixed messages of 'support' to both manager and team since their defeat to Wolves in midweek and you really must think that it's counterproductive for the owners to step out of line as this very late stage of the season.
He told the BBC after the game that he knows how Zola must feel at this time: 'Now's the time that you need the chairman to back you, a bit of good luck and the players to stick together'
