Simo joins the Blades

Simo joins the Blades

Steve Simonsen has joined Sheffield United on a one month loan.

The keeper has now dropped down to third choice since Asmir Begovic joined from Portsmouth in January and with little chance of even a run-out in the reserves it is not too surprising to see him off to another club.

He's now joined the Blades for an initial one month loan and with his current contract ending in the summer, you'd have to expect Simo to be looking around for another club for next season.

He joined the Potters back in 2004 after failing to impress at Everton and was understudy to Ed de Goey before making the number spot his own for two seasons. He then slipped down the pecking order with the arrival, on loan, of Carlo Nash as the Potters earned promotion two years ago. Since then Thomas Sorensen has been virtually impossible to shift and he's been reliant on the odd injury or two to Tommo for his chance in the Premier League limelight and he's never let us down when he's been called upon.

Ironic that what will probably be Simo's last game for us, was the game at Spurs when he had arguably his best game in a Stoke shirt. Hope the loan works out Simo and if you move on permanently, I wish you all the best in your career.

It's a bit ironic that the club have now announced that he's signed a new 1 year contract just as they demoted him to third and set him out on loan....
