Karl Henry on his way out?

Karl Henry has been linked with a move to Queens Park Rangers having rejected a new contract offer at the end of last year.

Henry was originally offered a contract in December but rejected it expecting the club to renegotiate. This move appears to have backfired as no further offers or discussions have been forthcoming.

With all the uncertainty surrounding the club at the moment and no prospect of any player being offered a contract until the new owners and manager are in place, Henry has, not unreasonably, got on his bike to look for another club, but has emphasised that he would like to stay at the club if possible.

He told the Sentinel: 'If the new manager says he doesn't want me, then obviously my mind is made up. I'd like to stay, but I also need to be playing games at this stage of my career.
'The whole situation is really out of my hands, though, because the club is entitled to compensation if they let me go.
'There has been a bit of interest from other clubs, but the compensation could be a stumbling block.'

The Potters would be entitled to some compensation if the 23 year old does leave as he does not qualify for a “bosman” having been with the club since he was eleven, so this could prove a sticking point for any prospective offers.

The midfielder has had a fairly indifferent season and never seemed to catch Boskamp’s eye, only starting fifteen games. But he has proved versatile, playing either in midfield or at right back.
