So where does Beattie go from here?

James Beattie turned down a move to Fulham on the final day of the transfer window - so where does the lad from Blackburn go from here?

With only two goals to his name this season and totally out of favour as a result of that infamous disagreement with the manager at Christmas, Beatt's career seems to be limbo at the moment. Fulham offered a decent chance of Premier League salvation but the deal is reported to have fallen through when he insisted on a £10k/week rise on his current Stoke salary to move to London.

If that deal had gone through the Potters were said to be ready to bring Derby striker, Rob Hulse on loan for the rest of this season. But the best that Beattie can now hope for is that a Championship club will come back in for him when the Football League loan window reopens later this month - otherwise he's going to be kicking his heels on the bench until May.

Could of been useful to Fulham with our injury issues, but his wage demands were ridiculous. Most only wanted him on loan anyway. He's had his moments over the years, but he's really better suited to the Championship. Glad the deal didn't go through.

I wonder what was going on in the mind of BT and his agent that made them think that his performances this season merited a £10k per week pay rise? His current salary is higher than the new contract Etherington has been offered - and Etherington has had a stunning season whereas BT has rarely looked interested. I assume his contract includes an element of appearance money - I hope we don't need to play him much because the less he gets the better as far as I am concerned.
