Begovic is a Potter

Begovic is a Potter

Portsmouth keeper, Asmir Begovic signed for Stoke yesterday just before the transfer window closed for a reported fee of £3.25m.

With Pompey desperate to get rid of at least one of their keepers to offset their dire financial situation it was not surprising that the contract negotiations took until the last minute as we tried to get the best deal for ourselves, but the 22 year old Bosnian should be a far better long term bet for Stoke than the 39 year old David James that we had been chasing for the last few weeks.

Whilst the cash will help keep the good ship Pompey afloat for now, I worry (for those loyal Pompey fans' sake) that it's just putting the inevitable off for just a little bit longer.

You've got a helluva fine young keeper there, gutted to see him go, but hope he fulfills his potential.

bargin of the window by far. he'll be the best keepr in the premiership - by far - one day, and that day will be soon too! I am absolutly gutted he left - not only becuase he is such a good player, and such a small fee, but also becuase it shows our owners care even less about the club than I thought.

Good deal for you guys, although I think alot of praise has to go to our goalkeeping coach David Coles as he has bought the best out of David James and Begovic.
