Wilko and Sorensen feature in latest gossip

Wilko and Sorensen feature in latest gossip

January`s transfer window is now starting to hot up with many deals expected to go through over the next week. All clubs are looking to strengthen their squads and it is no different at Stoke.

Last week saw us almost sign David James on loan but we were fortunately spared as a wage dispute put bed to that deal. And this morning`s papers claim we are in the hunt for £4million man Ben Foster.

Over the past week our keeper Thomas Sorensen was claimed to have already signed a deal with German giants Bayern Munich in the Danish press. Today though he has come out and categorically said that his future lies in the Potteries.

He said "I had two meetings with the manager last week and I gave him my word that I wasn`t going anywhere".

He said of his homeland`s media, "The Danish press has stitched me up big time". "I think I have finished speaking to them".

It`s great to hear him staying but now our attention goes towards the worrying rumour that Andy Wilkinson is attracting interest from Bolton.

It would be highly unlikely both this rumour is true and that the 25 year old from Stone would welcome a move away from his beloved club, but with competition fierce for a place in the starting line-up and with regular Premier League football at Bolton, who do have money to spend. It might just tempt him away.

I say might….

Am really glad that Sorensen is staying. What about Alex Smithies, thought we wanted him? Wilko wont go but he should be playing regularly hear anyway

Smithies is held in high regard, not sure where he'll end up though!
