James move collapses

Stoke have today confirmed that they have pulled out of signing David James. Tony Pulis and Peter Coates had earlier said that they were in advanced talks with Portsmouth to bring the England keeper to the Brit but it has now fallen though.

The stumbling block appears to be over which club pays how much of James`s wages. The 39 year-old is one of Portsmouth`s highest earners but the cash strapped club are desperate for money and so are willing to sell or loan out their prize assets.

I don`t see too many Potters fans disappointed as it may mean that Thomas Sorensen will stay on despite being liked with Bayern Munich. The Dane is arguably a better if not more reliable man between the sticks and should be back for tomorrow`s game with Liverpool.

As for the Potters they will continue pursuing other targets. A striker is a must in this window and hopefully something can be done before the FA Cup next week against Arsenal.

greedy james, as he could have taken lower wages to leave us and join you to guarantee world cup place, sign of the times. No disrespect to you i believe hes holding out for what he thinks is a bigger club to save him, could be a long wait.

Not dissapointed, actually quite happy. Not good enough for england or stoke!

There was no point breaking the bank or upsetting the other players by bringing in money bags James at any price.
