Shawcross not afraid of Crouch

Stoke centre back Ryan Shawcross is relishing the opportunity of coming up against Spurs striker Peter Crouch in tomorrow`s clash at White Hart Lane.

Crouch, at 6"7, will once again be the tallest player on the pitch this weekend but the 6"5 Shawcross isnt too far behind.

While talking to BBC Radio Stoke he said "We dealt with him quite well when he played against us for Portsmouth"

'You don't want to get into an aerial battle with him. People are surprised with how good he is with his feet, but I'm sure we can deal with him.'

The battle between 3rd place Tottenham and 9th placed Stoke will see the Potters try to win at there opponents for the first time in 34 years. C`mon Stoke!

Crouch is a f(ing one trick pony. One tip Shawcross, dont jump with him for headers and make sure you are always in front of him. That way, he'll lean into you for any header and it will be a foul! The Portugese did it to great success in the WC.

I think Ryan will cope pretty well with Crouch in the air - despite his height, heading is not the strongest part of Crouch's game. He does have a knack of being in the right place at the right time to put the ball in the net, though and it will be interesting to see if Ryan comes out on top in that duel. I'm glad that Defoe won't be playing though - hopefully Spurs will miss him more than we miss Huth.
