Will Whelan be fit for hammers clash?

Stoke midfielder Glenn Whelan is a doubt for Saturdays Premier League encounter against West Ham due to a calf injury he picked up while away with the Rep of Ireland.

Last Saturday saw the Irish hold World Champions Italy to a 2-2 draw with Glenn scoring after 8 minutes, but later on in the game he was taken off injured.

Whelan also missed Stoke`s last top flight match, away at Everton two weeks ago, as Salif Diao was preferred to take his role but that move only seemed a one off, with Glenn expected to retake his role for the forthcoming game at the Brit this coming weekend.

Compatriot Liam Lawrence who also started for Ireland on Saturday is likely to regain his starting place if Whelan isnt able to recover in time.
