Stoke: Kitson scores!

Stoke City's second string just made it over the finishing line in the Carling Cup match against Leyton Orient thanks to a great goal from Dave Kitson.

Despite the Potters' 18 corners and 10 shots on goal it took a 30 yard volley from Kitson in extra time to ensure that we're in the hat for the third round that will be drawn at midday on Saturday.

This was his first goal in a competitive match since his £5.5m move over 12 months ago, but his improved form had been noticeable in pre-season when he notched up three goals in the friendlies.

It'll be interesting to see if Tony Pulis chooses a revitalised Kitson over James Beattie for Saturday's home tie with Sunderland, especially with Beatts still recovering from an injury sustained early on in the game against Birmingham last week.

Delighted Kits got his first competitive goal for us. Sad that he had to play 120 minutes last night though. I hope he doesn't need to play for 90 minutes on Saturday.
