Wolves boss looks up to Stoke

Wolves boss looks up to Stoke

The Potters' near neighbours, Wolves, seem to think all they have to do is 'do a Stoke' to stay up.

With the odds on avoiding the drop still as likely as ever for those Championship clubs able to earn promotion to the Premier League, it seems as though they're all looking to try and replicate Tony Pulis' achievements last season.

With Birmingham, Wolves and Burnley the traditional favourites for an early return to the Championship, it's no surprise that they're looking at the how we did it at the Brit to try and avoid relegation.

After reading Mick McCarthy's interview in the Express and Star this weekend, I'm left with the impression that he thinks it's just a question of ticking the boxes...

1. 'Get someone with a long throw'. He thinks he's done that with the signing of Greg Halford from Sunderland, but time will tell.

2. 'Make Molineux a cauldron of noise'. Go on then Mick, try Rent-a-mob.com

3. 'Grow the grass and shorten the pitch'. He won't do that as he reckons that his players are better than that... If I remember correctly a certain Mr Mowbray said something similar - just remind me whatever happened to them?

At the end of the day it's really about team spirit, something that is always in TP's mind whenever he thinks of bringing a new player in and, in any case, 'Fortress Molineux' doesn't quite seem to have the same ring about it...

A reminder that Wolves will visit the Brit on October 31st with the return leg on April 10th.

It won't be easy to replicate what we did but I reckon that Wolves have by far the best chance of doing it out of all the promoted clubs. I'm glad to see them back - despite the trouble last time we were at their place I still think the atmosphere at the Stoke - Wolves match is usually a cut above most games. The meetings in the Prem should be electric!
