Stoke to sign Murphy as player/coach?

Rumours abound that Stoke may be looking to add Fulham skipper, Danny Murphy to the back-room staff with an offer of a player/coaching role.

The Chester born midfielder began his career at Crewe and at 32 years old is in danger of dropping out of the starting eleven at Craven Cottage with the Cottagers looking to bring in new blood for the upcoming season despite Murphy clocking up 38 appearances last season.

He's under contract at the London club until 2010 after signing a one year extension earlier this year, but it seems that he may be finding Stoke's offer of interest with reports saying that Stoke's academy director and former Crewe boss, Steve Holland may be helping to tip the balance in the Potters' favour.
