Some winter sun for the Potters

The Stoke City squad are off to find some winter sun after this week's trip to Chelsea.

The Potters don't have a match next week since being knocked out of the FA Cup by Hartlepool and Tony Pulis has arranged for the team to train for five days in sunny Dubai, where the weather is likely to be several degrees warmer than Stoke on Trent.

The squad will fly out after the match at Stamford Bridge on Saturday and be back in the Potteries by the following Friday.

It's a far cry from the mid season training camp that Pulis took his team to when they were in the Championship. Two years ago the budget could just stretch to three days at the Royal Marines' boot camp at Lympstone in Devon.

It's a tough life being a Premier League footballer...

All right for some. Jealous? Moi?

Why? they trot off to these warm climates and then come back to cold and wet England and then they all get flu and can't play.

It is a good idea. With no game on the FA Cup weekend the players would have got a bit stale if they had stayed in the UK for regular training sessions. Let's hope that by the time they flay out there are at least one and possibly two more players added to the squad.
