Sorensen 'fit' for Boxing Day clash

Thomas Sorensen has said that he intends to be fit for the match against Manchester United on Boxing Day.

The Danish international suffered some bone damage in a finger whilst warming up at Ewood Park last Saturday and had to sit on the sidelines with Steve Simonsen taking his place in goal.

Simmo, despite letting in three goals, had a good game overall and without some great saves towards the end the deficit could have been even greater. Sorensen is aware of the reserve keeper's ability and may be worried that any break through injury could end up with him having to fight for his place when fit again. He told the BBC: 'You want competition, and you want two or three good goalkeepers in the squad who can push each other.'

There's no doubt that Sorensen was one of the Premier League bargains of the summer. He arrived at the Brit from Aston Villa as a free agent after failing to play a single match at Villa Park last season.
