Stoke: No Zigic but what about Pizarro?

Stoke City have apparently pulled out of a deal to get Valencia's Nikola Zigic and have now turned their attentions to Chelsea's Claudio Pizarro.

Chief Exec, Tony Scholes travelled to Spain at the end of last week to discuss the possibility of Zigic joining the Potters on loan, but with Valencia preferring a permanent deal instead it seems that the Potters have turned their attentions elsewhere with Tony Pulis telling the media over the weekend that 'we have other irons in the fire'. Indeed, it seems that Scholes didn't just meet with Valencia but also met officials from fellow Spanish club, Zaragoza and discussed several players with them.

One of Pulis' irons could be Pizarro. The 29 year old Peruvian striker has just completed his first season at Stamford Bridge but hasn't played since their FA Cup defeat at Barnsley and could be available on a season long loan deal worth around £4m.

Take him. Please.

I don't know where this rumor came from apprently stoke are very close to zigic along with players from real zaragoza, i don't think pizarro has the pedigree to be effective for us especially as he has pretty much spent the last year of his career playing bit part cameos at chelsea

Pizzarro might actually be good for you. In Chelsea he has competition that outruns him, I do not see that in Stoke.

He's a quality player but he hasn't been able to get enough playing time to prove it for us -- much like Anelka last season. Would be happy to see him leading the line for someone else on loan in the Premiership for a year and showing us what he can actually do.

Another player that Stoke have 'pulled the plug' on. Surely this is a euphemism for been rejected by? This must be getting very concerning for you Potters wityh only a week to go. I'm not convinced Kitson is the answer either.

I'll drive him to Stoke! Where do we report to!
